Bank of America Hadoop and Exadata Team Lead, Global Wholesale Banking Technology in Pennington, New Jersey

Job Description:

Hadoop and Exadata Team Lead to play a significant role in building big data platform for global banking business to support enterprise risk, finance and regulatory and line of business reporting/business intelligence. The successful candidate with work closely with Project/Program Managers, Analysts, Quality Assurance, Production Support teams and business partners.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Participate in Agile development on a large Hadoop-based data platform as a team lead of a distributed team.

  • Lead the design and coding programs to load data from diverse data sources into Hive structures using Spark/SQOOP and other tools

  • Data modeling and creation of type 2 dimensional data mart creation

  • Translate complex functional and technical requirements into detailed design.

  • Analyze vast data stores.

  • Code business logic using Scala on Apache Spark.

  • Create workflows using Oozie.

  • Code and test prototypes.

  • Code to existing frameworks where applicable.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 10 total years of experience and at least 3 of those leading teams

  • Problem solving mindset; team work and good communication skills are critical

  • Backend programming in free-standing languages – Python/Java/Scala. Working with design patterns and building frameworks, components is desired

  • Working experience with Hadoop ecosystem; Cloudera preferred

  • Working experience in relational databases - principles, SQL etc. Hands on experience in HiveQL. Familiarity with data loading tools like SQOOP.

  • Working experience in Unix and workflow/schedulers such as Oozie and AutoSys.

  • Strong traditional RDBMS experience, data modeling and dimensional datamart experience a plus

  • Knowledge of Object Oriented Design principles.

  • Ability to factor in scalability and performance considerations into design and coding.

  • Experience in Spark, hands on design and coding expertise.

  • Knowledge of security and data privacy considerations.

  • Knowledge of existing best practices/standards.

  • A degree in Engineering or Sciences is desired but not required

  • Prior experience working in the Banking and Financial domain would be a plus.
