Job Description:

Applies credit skills and product knowledge to analyze and decide on a wide variety of business purpose loans for medium size (business credit $100M -$500M) Small Business relationships. Occasionally provides analysis beyond normal process for business credit under $100M if required as defined by the Merlin credit specialist. Makes loan decisions, obtains Credit Policy and lending authority concurrence as appropriate and informs the originating sales associate of acceptance, decline or counteroffer decisions. Performance measured by the number of credit decisions made per day. Ability to evaluate cash flow, 2 to 5 years of credit experience.

Functional Details:

AOI’s should have familiarity with industry knowledge, process flows, Bank of America underwriting platform and systems, reading a credit bureau and should have some limited underwriting expertise. The AOI is a beginner level underwriter whose responsibilities consist of analyzing business financial statements, personal financial statements, personal tax returns, and credit bureaus. Information is received for the AOI to construct a cash flow, balance sheet, business profile, and personal financial information from the beginning stages for established practices. Simple level requests are primarily reviewed, which are defined as 1 Household and up to 2 Practice Entities. The AOI must display decision making skills, attention to detail and good written and oral communication skills.

Job Description:

Bank of America Practice Solutions is a specialized lending unit that focuses on licensed medical professionals including Dentists, Physicians and Veterinarians. Applies credit skills and product knowledge to analyze and decide on a wide variety of business purpose loans for small business clients. Makes loan decisions, obtains Credit Policy and lending authority concurrence as appropriate and informs the originating sales associate of acceptance, decline or counteroffer decisions.

The Approval Officer I will typically have 1 to 3 years credit underwriting experience and is able to underwrite more basic/simple credit transactions with minimal oversight utilizing independent judgment and discretion to decision loans. Responsibilities include underwriting business cash flows, analyzing credit bureaus and conducting interviews with prospective borrowers to measure their plans and aptitude against industry standards. They deliver financial, industry, economic and other analysis used to recommend and approve loans. The AOs exercise their own single signature loan authority while also ensuring adherence to credit policies, guidelines, and applicable regulatory requirements. The AO will be called on to interview customers to obtain background and financial information in the process of rendering adecision.

Required Skills:

1-3 years of credit and underwriting experience

Ability to evaluate cash flow

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Strong organizational skills

Proficient with PC applications including Microsoft office (Excel and Word)

Ability to develop proficiency with the GUS and Risk Rating scorecard applications.

BS/BA degree
