Job Description:

The Alternative Investments (AI) Platform Solutions team is positioned within the AI Platform Management team, part of the broader Investment Solution Group (ISG) organization within Wealth Management. The AI team supports a variety of products, such as hedge funds, managed futures funds, private equity funds, non-traded real estate investment trusts (REITs) and real assets. The AI products are offered to suitable private clients across the Merrill Lynch and US Trust distribution channels through Financial Advisors (FAs) and Portfolio Managers (PMs).

The AI Platform Management team is designed to enable and facilitate the ISG organization’s strategic priorities. We drive the business in a way which is focused on the advisor and client experience, while continuing to maintain a sound control environment. We take some of the most challenging asset classes and deliver them to clients in a simplified, risk-mitigated and consumable format. We allow advisors and clients to make investment decisions not based on product difficulty versus simplicity, but rather, based on where investment products fit within a well-diversified, goals-based portfolio.

The AI Platform Solutions team is designed to provide thoughtful, strategic and sustainable operational, technology and business intelligence solutions to improve the day-to-day business for clients and advisors in addition to enabling the broader goals of the organization to be accomplished.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide business intelligence reporting and data inquiry support across the alternative investments platform to partners and stakeholders upon request

  • Working with a vendor and operational partners, produce monthly client-facing performance return fact cards for internally sponsored hedge and managed futures funds

  • Conduct monthly quality assurance processes to ensure accuracy, completeness and data integrity across a variety of functional areas, such as offering kit materials, performance returns, client qualifications, website access, internal communications to advisors, offshore jurisdiction product availability, etc.

  • Support internal content management processes across the internal website, e-mail communications and educational/marketing materials

  • Act as a product consultant for alternative investment strategic initiatives across business, regulatory, operational and technical areas, including defining and developing requirements, working with multiple organizations and stakeholders to obtain consensus on scope, approach, features, functionality, etc., working with technology partners to design and test system enhancements, coordinating and communicating launch/roll out activities

  • Support fund launches across the alternative investments business, including product setup activities, working with third-party vendors, testing, and product consultation

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Engineering, Computer Science or similar

  • Intermediate proficiency or higher in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint and MS Outlook

  • Fundamental awareness or higher in MS SQL, MS Access, Oracle, HTML, .NET, Java and/or other foundational coding language

  • High attention to detail, strong project management and organizational skills and exemplary analytical skills

  • Excellent communication skills across both technical and business subject areas

  • Understanding of the broader private client financial services industry

  • A passion for problem solving and improving the client and advisor experience

Optional Skills:

  • Experience with business intelligence and reporting, experience using Tableau or similar tools

  • Financial services designations and/or registrations, such as CFA, CAIA, CFP, CPA, Series 7/66

  • Experience with hedge and private equity funds; experience in the alternative investments industry

  • Experience working with MS SQL query language and/or other foundational coding experience; experience using TOAD, MS Access or other data extract systems

  • Experience with communication and/or content management systems

  • Experience with website maintenance and/or design
