The Wealth Management Loan Officer (WMLO) proactively:
Aligns to a Financial Advisor team or individual Financial Advisor’s practice, actively developing a strategy to identify credit opportunities in the FA’s book and offer clients access to the full suite of credit solutions through a high touch client experience
Self-sources new opportunities through network and regular participation in business related development opportunities
Solicits new consumer lending business and sells Bank of America consumer lending products to meet established loan quality and production goals (First Mortgage, Home Equity, and Consumer Vehicle Lending).
Identifies and refers potential needs requiring structured lending and loan management account (LMA) to meet established loan quality and production goals
Identifies and refers Consumer Banking and Small Business opportunities
This position is subject to SAFE Act registration requirements. Pursuant to the SAFE Act requirements, all employees engaged in residential loan mortgage originations must register with the federal registry system and remain in good standing. Since your position requires SAFE Act registration, you will be required to register and to submit to the required SAFE Act background check and registration process. Failure to obtain and/or maintain SAFE Act registration may result in your immediate termination.
Develops and maintains successful relationships with aligned Merrill Lynch Financial Advisors.
Develops and maintains successful relationships with business referral sources, existing and prospective Bank of America.
Prospects new mortgage and other consumer lending opportunities.
Meets with customers as necessary during various stages of the loan process.
Utilizes Bank of America training materials, reference tools and other resources to provide accurate and up-to-date loan program/policy information to both external customers and internal business partners.
Provides complete loan applications to fulfillment center partners.
Ensures exceptional customer experience by overseeing loan process from origination to close and providing on-going communication to customers and business partners.
Achieves production and quality goals as established by Bank of America.
Oversees and ensures successful completion of all assigned GWIM Loan Officer Training activities.
Understands functions / attributes of a total wealth management approach
Is fully integrated into FA practice model; attends FA meetings and strategy sessions; as well as participating in all client review meetings / CMP process
Develops a strategic plan for developing credit business with each FA team
Conducts client level portfolio reviews for each FA practice to segment and prioritize clients
Meets with FA(s) to review identified credit opportunities for prioritized client list
Meets with clients to discuss credit solutions and potential opportunities based on portfolio review
Conducts weekly strategy session with CA(s) to discuss issues and ensure exceptional client experience
Engages business and structured lending credit specialists as needed to support sales process and close business
Participate in FA client acquisition process to ensure prospect has full awareness of value proposition and GWIM Banking capabilities
Facilitate referrals to other LOBs once an opportunity has been identified
Understanding of the following products to facilitate referral to other parts of the Bank - Consumer and Small Business, Derivatives, Retirement, Trust/Estate Planning, Consumer Vehicle Loans
Demonstrated success in prospecting, generating leads, closing business and consistently meeting/exceeding production goals
Verifiable, established network of referral business including Real Estate professionals and other centers of influence
Five years’ experience in banking with solid credit experience. Minimum of 1 year residential mortgage lending experience with a focus on generating self-sourced business
Strong background in the credit solutions (lending) area, ranging from standard to custom mortgage products and from margin and other securities-based lending to more complex and innovative secured by various collateral types
Demonstrated results in delivering credit products to an affluent / UHNW client base
Significant experience building relationships with clients
Series 7 & 63 (or 66) required. Candidates may apply without Series 7 license, but must achieve all required licenses within 120 days of accepting the position.
Strong computer skills including a fundamental understanding of MS applications, database management and previous experience utilizing laptop technology for communication purposes including accessing rate, credit and loan status information
Solid time management skills and the ability to organize prioritize and perform multiple tasks simultaneously. Enthusiasm for assignments and the ability to meet established timelines
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, across a variety of audiences. Professional and effective interpersonal skills
Ability to analyze and comprehend complex financial data and provide financial alternatives
Consultative skills; able to ask critical questions to identify opportunities
Creative thinker who maintains positive outlook and promotes teamwork
Must demonstrate comprehensive financial planning capabilities through assessing needs, identifying opportunities, and recommending financial solutions
Proven ability to prospect for banking debt and liquidity opportunities
4 year college degree preferred
