Job Description:

Participates in design, development and implementation of architectural deliverables, to include components of the assessment and optimization of system design and review of user requirements. Contributes to the determination of technical and operational feasibility of solutions. Develops prototypes of the system design and works with database, operations, technical support and other IT areas as appropriate throughout development and implementation processes. May lead multiple projects with competing deadlines. Serves as a fully seasoned/proficient technical resource; provides tech knowledge and capabilities as team member and individual contributor. Will not have direct reports but will influence and direct activities of a team related to special initiatives or operations, as well as mentor junior band 5 Architect 1's. Provides input on staffing, budget and personnel. Typically 7 or more years of architecture experience.

Responsibilities:

The position is for a senior-level Data Architect. The candidate will work closely with Project Managers, Data Analysts, and development team members and create solution designs for projects.

  • Provide consultative approach with business users, asking questions to understand the business need and deriving the data flow based on those needs

  • Perform the detail data analysis

  • Develop the logical dimensional model(s), Data Sourcing Analysis, Solution Design Documents, System Architecture diagrams

  • Ensure designs are in compliance with Enterprise Architecture standards and produce documents for evidence

  • Prepare prototype models to support the development efforts

  • Assist development team in converting the logical model(s) to physical

Required Skills:

  • 10-12 years of experience designing large scale database designs and models for data warehouse environments

  • Proven demonstration of strong Logical, Canonical, Rational, Dimensional and Physical Data Modeling skills

  • 6-8 years of experience designing large scale data models for data warehouse environments using Teradata.

  • Diverse experience with database technologies including MPP appliances (Vertica, Netezza, Exadata, etc.)

  • Strong knowledge of ETL frameworks and business intelligence, reporting, databases and SQL programming. (BTEQ, PL/SQL) etc.

  • Superior interpersonal, communication skills and documentation skills with ability to be both directive and collaborative

  • Industry experience in Finance including banking, corporate finance, insurance, investments banks and other financial institutions

  • Strong experience with large data sets ( >50TB)

  • Ability to gather business requirements, perform analysis and establish/recommend a data integration architecture

  • Extensive background in database systems along with a strong knowledge of SQL

  • Experience with agile/scrum

  • Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a teamwork-oriented environment; apply policies and procedures to solve every day and/or complex company issues

  • Working experience with Big Data Technologies and tools
