Job Description:

Develops, enhances, debugs, supports, maintains and tests software applications that support business units or supporting functions. These application program solutions may involve diverse development platforms, software, hardware, technologies and tools. Participates in the design, development and implementation of complex applications, often using new technologies. May provide technical direction and system architecture for individual initiatives. Serves as a fully seasoned/proficient technical resource. Will not have direct reports but may lead projects and direct activities of a team related to special initiatives or operations. May have responsibility for a project and project budget. May collaborate with external programmers to coordinate delivery of software application. Routine accountability is for technical knowledge and capabilities. Works under minimal supervision, with general guidance from more seasoned consultants. Typically requires 5-7 years of experience.

Team Overview

The FICC Emerging Markets business operates across the globe with on-shore sales and trading operations across Latin America, CEEMEA and Asia. The Global Emerging Markets technology group is responsible for the development and on-going support of the systems required for the smooth running of this complex global business, systems ranging from pricing and execution to risk management and regulatory reporting.

The ideal candidate for this role will be a software engineer with experience designing responsive user interfaces on an HTML5/Javascript technology stack, preferably familiar with the ReactJS framework. This position will primarily focus on a complete functional migration of a legacy project onto a new UI technology stack. This includes mainly front-end development on a spreadsheet (Handsontable) based ReactJS application. The application allows users customize market views with custom expressions and custom formatting, while leveraging a websocket to communicate with backend services for expression parsing and evaluation. Given specifics on a legacy feature, this candidate should be comfortable implementing this feature efficiently in Javascript and HTML5, while also making good design decisions about how the feature should cohesively fit into the new application.

• Software Engineering or Computer Science background.

• Degree level education.

• Fixed income background

Experienced in Javascript (ES6)

• Proficient in HTML5/CSS

• Familiar with ReactJS or similar frameworks

• Understanding of UX / eye for good design very desirable

• Python knowledge desirable

• Experience using web services / websockets desirable

• Experience using git on collaborative projects a plus

UI Skillset:

• Desired: React JS/ES6/WebPack

• Acceptable Skill set: java script with Angular, Typescript

• Non Acceptable: C++/C#/Java/Javascript with just jquery

• Nice to have: worked with ExtJS, Webix, Bootstrap, Highcharts and Python on the backend

• The candidate should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• An appetite to work in a fast paced environment.
