Bank of America Procurement Manager in Charlotte, North Carolina

Job Description:

As a Procurement Manager, you will be responsible for negotiating complex deals from inception to completion. This includes leveraging current and future business requirements, market intelligence, and historical spend information to develop innovative category strategies that drive a simplified supply base, business value and cost reduction. The Procurement Manager is viewed as a trusted advisor by key Business stakeholders, and expected to maximize the competitive landscape in order to achieve significant cost savings. The Procurement Manager also manages and understands the end-to-end third party risk management lifecycle and ensures the Business stakeholder is prepared to manage the risk of contracted goods and services. This work includes supporting the application of Procurement Policy, the effective use of third parties as well as in some cases supporting Procurement governance activities and other program requirements.

  • Capable of defining, influencing and driving approval of procurement category strategies to achieve business goals and objectives

  • Able to lead a team in the development of complex RFP proposal documents, develop negotiation approaches, and is proficient in the objective analysis of proposal responses and the overall evaluation of potential service providers

  • Negotiates contracts utilizing best practices, assists the business owner in creating business requirements including Schedules/ Statement of Works and Service Level Agreements, providing clarity and addressing all Business requirements

  • Able to structure all elements of complex RFPs (technical, contractual, schedule and cost) in order to ensure that uniformed bids are received

  • Comfortable with legal contract concepts (Limitation of Liability, Indemnification) and able to drive negotiation acceptance of Bank of America’s required language with those terms

  • Work routinely with risk partners (Legal, Compliance, Ops, Info Sec, etc.) in negotiating deals and in managing outsourcing risk

  • Consistently provides a high level of service by establishing and clearly communicating mutual expectations, developing an understanding of business needs and demonstrating competency and consistency in meeting commitments

  • Builds broad-based business relationships and partnerships across the organization, skillfully influences peers and colleagues to promote and sell ideas, and proactively surfaces and resolves conflict with minimal noise

  • Proven ability to communicate, partner, and influence across a matrix organization

  • Identify and escalate risks and issues to the appropriate governance routines

  • Analyze and determine adherence to Bank of America’s required Third Party program requirements

  • Quickly adapt to changes within the Procurement Program and be able to communicate and reinforce program changes with the Lines of Business that this role supports through effective change management routines and processes

  • Assist in providing documentation/evidence when responding to audit and/or regulatory inquiries

Required Skills:

  • 5+ years of experience sourcing for various Indirect Procurement categories (Facilities and Physical Security experience a plus)

  • Four-year college degree

  • Self-starter, with capability of working autonomously across multiple procurement projects is essential

  • Strong contract negotiation skillset and experience

  • Sound commercial awareness and good analytical and research skills

  • Proactive, conscientious and high level of attention to detail

  • Comfortable with Sourcing systems (ideally Ariba)

  • Excellent communicator and able to build and manage relationships with business partners across various teams

Desired Skills:

  • Previous experience within the Financial Services Industry preferred
